Finally Friday!!!!

I actually have good news to report before a weekend:0) We got an email this evening that we have been resubmitted for our birth certificate. It only took 7 weeks, (ridiculous) but it finally happened. Now we just wait again. I pray that we will get good news soon!!!!

Gareth and I went on a date tonight. Some friends invited us to 'Riverdance', so we went to dinner and then to see the show. It was great! We are wondering what the career expectancy for those dancers are. I would have to think that they can't move like that for years and have their knees hold up:0) Anyway, we had such a good time and now to come home to this email just ends our night on such a high note. Anyway, it is past 1 am and we are tired and have to leave for soccer by 8 in the morning, so it is off to bed for us.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

Just Wednesday!

Sorry, I have no creative title for today.
We finally got a call tonight that we should be re-submitted for our birth certificate tomorrow. The other family that we were "waiting it out with" went back in yesterday, but our new lawyer wanted a form re-done for us. Our delay is much more complicated than that, but I can't really go in to it right now. The great news is though that our lawyer was able to make headway, and it puts off my traveling alone. (At least for the time being.) I pray that we get good news tomorrow. I also pray that the Civil Registry has sympathy for us and doesn't make us wait weeks again to hear something.
We are attempting to plan our summer, but it is so hard not knowing what is around the corner for us with getting Nicholas home.

Maybe next week.......

I have decided that I deserve to Patent this term due to saying it so much and if anyone uses it, they should have to pay me:0)

I haven't posted in a week just due to too much drama. The week started with a very big possibility of me heading down to Guatemala to attempt to finish our adoption myself. Every day that decision has changed. Sometime multiple times in one day. In the morning, we may get a call from our attorney telling us to start looking at flights, and then a few hours later they have come up with a new idea and tell us to hold off. It is pretty complicated to go in to details, but we still have not been resubmitted for Nicholas' b.c. Monday is going to be a very important day for our case. I pray that those that are holding our process up would realize what it is that they are doing. I pray that their hearts are softened and that we are able to start moving again next week.

The rest of our week........
Alex and I went to the zoo today on a field trip for her school. We had a great time. We could not have asked for better weather and we must have walked 5 miles, but it was a blast. On Tuesday, Gareth took Alex out for a special treat after soccer just the two of them. As they were waiting in line, Alex commented to Gareth, "Beer is really bad for kids." Gareth responded, "well, yes it is." A minute later, she said, "beer is really bad for kids, they shouldn't drink it." He then again responded, "well yes it is. Were you talking about that in school?" She said, "yeah, we were learning about how we shouldn't do drugs or drink beer." Great opener for a teaching moment. It was then their turn to order, and Gareth asks Alex what she wants to drink. She then proceeds to say, "not root beer, I will never drink that again." It turns out that she had been reading the menu and couldn't believe that they offered "beer" to kids. She is so cute!!!!

We had our end of the year meeting this week for Callum down at the school that he attends to do his speech classes. There were 6 of us in the meeting. We were given his test scores, which is did so well on. He is catching up rapidly. We were able to meet the wonderful teacher that will be working with him next school year when he starts at Alex's school. She was so wonderful as was the staff that have worked with him this past year. He will be going to school 5 days a week next year, but luckily only half days. (I am not ready for all day yet) He will also be continuing his speech during that time, so I will no longer have to run him 25 minutes down the road. Now, don't get me wrong, I would do it if need be, but I am a little excited that I no longer have to:0) He is talking in 4 word sentences and I very rarely have to translate for him. In the last few months we have just seen him blossom. We have also seen a pretty stubborn side evolve, but I am completely OK with that. Needless to say, after the meeting, I think that Gareth and I were both really excited at what he will be doing next year.

I hope that you all have a great weekend. Please continue to pray that we have resolution to our process. We want Nicholas home in the worst way. Hopefully Monday, we will actually have some good news for a change!!!!

Another weekend goes by......

It is 11:15 and we just received our latest update. We are still not resubmitted for our birth certificate. it is a long story so I won't go in to details, but the lawyer that has been working for us since January has said to give him until Tuesday as he is working on a few things and we will see what happens. PLEase pray that the hearts of those with our paperwork will be softend. This is beyond anything that any human should have to go through. This wait is unbearable and the fear of how he will fare once he gets home is terrifying. The longer it is, the harder it will be on him!!!! It is VERY frustrating to be sitting here and not be able to do anything. One the other hand, one option that we are having to start thinking and praying about is sending me down to finish the final steps. That could take weeks and extra funds, but it is an option that we are being told may have to happen eventually.
We will do what we have to, but ideally, that is not a wonderful way to go!! Please continue to pray for us and this situation!!!

Happy Mother's Day, A day late!

We had a wonderful day yesterday. I woke up at 6:30, which never happens. I am a night owl, not a morning person. Anyway, we decided that we were taking the day off from church and just having a family day. At 8:30, Alex came down and Gareth had informed me that I had to pretend to be asleep. She brought me a few cards that she had made, and a painted flower pot magnet. Sooo cute. Then Callum came in and brought me a homemade card and little tile that he had colored on. They all ran out and came back in with bagels and flowers, and Gareth treated me to a very pretty piece of jewelery. He is so sweet.
We ended up relaxing in the morning. We were going to drive to a nearby town for the day, but the weather was VERY yucky and rainy. Instead, we went bowling and then a leisurely walk through the mall finished off by dinner out. What a wonderful day to spend with my family. I am very blessed to have a wonderful mother who taught me so many things about being a wife and a mother and a wonderfully sweet mother-n-law. I am very blessed to be so lucky!!!

Well, you know I mentioned the yucky weather? We got up this morning with a full day planned. i was taking the kids to school, while Gareth made some calls to England and Guatemala. I was drive Alex to school, so as we pulled in, I thought, ok twilight zone, there is no one here. I put on the news station on the radio and they mentioned nothing. I came back home and called a friend who told me that they closed county schools due to the rain. Well, you should have seen the look on my husbands face. Closing the school because of rain?? If they did that in England, there would never be school. Well, we found out later in the day that due to flash flooding, there were over 30 road closures in the county. Makes sense, and made for an interesting day. Monday is mine and Gareth's morning together, so we didn't get any of the errands done that we needed to. Oh, well, I am sure that I can do it later in the week.

On the adoption front, we did speak with our lawyer today. We are having a very hard time getting resubmitted for our little guys b.c. Too many details to go in to , but again, he was hoping to have news for us in the next day or two. If not, we may have to look in to other options that can set us back further in the short term, but help out longer in the long run. We are beyond frustrated, but very blessed that he has the children at heart. Our main concern is that all of our U.S. documents start expiring for a second time soon, and we are going to have to update them again. That means more money and without an agency, a lot of headache. Please pray that we are able to get him home soon and this resolved so that this doesn't even come in to play!!!!

Back to England!

Mum and Joe are headed back to England as I type. The week went so quickly but we had a great time. We went to the zoo and got rained on.(not that much fun) Callum had to see the elepants so we stood in the rain for ages so that he could say hi.
Our county got a minor league baseball team, so on Friday night, we went to the inagural game. Saturday we watched the kids play soccer. Callum chased the pack while Alex scored another goal this week. She said that it was for her Grandad.
On Sunday and Monday, we went to the Great Wolf Lodge. (and indoor water park) The kids had an absolute blast. Callum was in the pool for hours on end, and Alex went on every slide there was. Gareth and I did a boogie boarding ride, and did ok. Alex then decided she wanted to try it, so we said that we would do it with her. She was very brave. Not many her size would, but Alex doesn't seem to fear of many things. Let's just say that she put me to shame. She did great, and the second time around, well I have a nice bruise on my back to show for it. All in all, we had a wonderful time, but it went to quickly. I hope that they arrive home in a much better fashion than they arrived here.

On the adoption front, we still have not been resubmitted like we were told. We aren't sure what the hold up is.

Finally update!

We found out this morning that our file is ready to be resubmitted and will be done so tomorrow. I know that it is good news that we will be resubmitted, but we have been out 2 1/2 weeks. URghhhhh!!!! Our time is supposed to start again, so it may be another month before we hear anything. I pray that that isn't the case.

Next week marks 6 months since our approval. Never in a million years did I think that we would still be waiting to bring him home at this point.

In my head, I know that God has a reason for making us wait so long, but these days, my emotions can't really take it!
